FCSC Camps & Academies | Intermediate Academy (U10 INT)

INTERMEDIATE ACADEMY (U10)

The Intermediate League is designed to give players a more consistent level of play and coaching within the recreational division. Players do not have to participate in the Intermediate League to move on to Arsenal (competitive soccer) the following year. Players are exposed to 8 weeks of additional staff-run training in conjunction with their own training. Sessions are designed to be high-paced and intense as to mimic a typical training session they may see at the next level. Topics covered are ball handling (dribbling for possession and penetration), passing and receiving (both flighted and driven balls), shooting and finishing, as well as introductory attacking and defending tactics. The coach to player ratio is an important part of the success of the Intermediate Academy; we invite only 6 to 12 players from each team, each week, so the numbers are kept small and give each player the attention they deserve, the result is a fully confident U10 player entering the competitive tryout experience in June.

ISoccer testing will take place for Intermediate players during the spring season; each player will be tested the first and last day of the Academy. Results will be documented and returned to each player so progress can be effortlessly comprehended. For more information on ISoccer testing please visit www.isoccer.org

Intermediate players will also have the opportunity for a scrimmage series in May to be seen by Arsenal coaches.

All Intermediate and U10 players are invited to attend the Arsenal Pre-Tryout Camp held on Fridays in May at the FCSC Soccer Complex. A minimal fee is assessed. The camp will help prepare participants for the Arsenal Colorado tryouts. It allows players seeking roster positions the peace of mind on what to expect during the evaluation process at tryouts. Each player will receive a camp t-shirt.

INTERMEDIATE GOAL KEEPING (U10)

All players who are registered in the Intermediate League and who are interested in learning more about the goal keeping position are invited to participate in the Goal Keeping Academy. Four sessions are scheduled each season, typically running bi-monthly (check the website for dates and times). A qualified staff coach will run the Academy sessions along with high school aged Arsenal goal keepers as assistants. Players are reminded to wear appropriate gear (gloves) and long sleeved shirt or jersey and bring a ball.
