Coaching Development Program (CDP)
COACHING OBJECTIVE
The objective of the Fort Collins Soccer Club Coaching Development Program is to provide a graduated educational curriculum aimed at providing our coaches with the skills necessary to create an environment where player development will occur.
Since, few players touch a ball outside of practice, the coaches of our club need to ensure that the limited practice time spent with players
develops all of the basic techniques. Further realize how important it is to ensure that every one of your players develops all the basic techniques. This development takes the player from being introduced to proper
and proper techniques, refining those techniques and applying them to the game of soccer.
COACHING PHILOSOPHY
The coaching philosophy of the Fort Collins Soccer Club is to promote the game of soccer while instilling a love for the game in every player. The club is committed to developing every player to their potential and to compete at the highest level of their ability. In doing so, it
is imperative that it be done in a fun, safe, learning environment, where players are encouraged to practice beyond their comfort level without fear of criticism or ridicule. Developing an understanding of commitment to teammates and a team
is another crucial component of player
development.
The Coaching Philosophy varies to some
extent within the club as players move from
the Developmental Division, through the
Intermediate League and into the Advanced
Division, but the overall philosophy remains
the same. The divisions within the club help
provide a level of soccer that will meet the
needs and ability of every player.
